Simply the Best!

The greatest winner of this breed has left us… Katano was a dog of incredible beauty, an amazing temperament; a dog of pure dignity and elegance.

It was impossible to walk by Katano without noticing how he possessed the strong traits of a winner! Katano will always be the greatest winner of this breed, with the incredible mark of 25BIS and countless placements in finals. Katano will always be the dog that made Malabo APD what it is today… It was his wonderful genes, his vigorous health, and his capacity to pass all these qualities on to his puppies that make his bloodline the most victorious and recognized line of Rhodesian Ridgeback not just in Brazil, but in all of Latin America.

Katano will always be remembered not just for his personal achievements, but also for his offspring, equally winners, healthy, and of amazing temperament.

Katano left us today… And with him, so goes a part of our history. It’s a history of a life that is not only measured by victories, but by the love I feel for each of my companions, my non-human children. Katano’s beauty touched all of us who were able to see him at his best. But it was only those who had the privilege to live with him that were able to experience the beauty of his love.

Life will always present us with some challenges, and in this moment, as I work on one of my biggest projects — the ARD Foundation – I suffer the loss of one of my most important and beloved dogs. I knew this moment was coming, but the truth is that even if when we know that they live fewer years than us, for they know how to love even before they are born, I’m never fully ready for the final goodbye.

Goodbye Katano… Your memory will be, for us, the light that will guide us to great happiness in the years ahead.
