To Gatbsy, with love

Every breeder has an “ideal dog” in mind. A dog that gathers all the main qualities and that somehow personifies the description of the breed’s standards. It is not always that a single dog can gather all qualities but, sometimes, we are lucky to see, live and color, that dog that fills our eyes and awakens in our hearts a special feeling of affection and astonishment.

This is the best definition of Gatsby… A dog the filled my eyes and my heart and that, unfortunately, left us yesterday (10/05/2012).

MBISS BISS Ch. Spring Valley’s Great Gatsby was one of the most impressive dogs that I had the honor of meeting. He was a milestone in my life as a breeder and he made me believe that THE special dog that I could only imagine of could be real.

It was due to Gatsby, to Ch Deer Ridge Blixen of Afrikka (Blixen), MBIS Ch of Afrikka Spring Valley Dorian Gray (Bruno) and to Ch Springvalley’s Merlin of Nashira JC (Merlin) that I started looking for MY ideal dog, the one that gathered everything I believed in about the breed. And today, because we can count on these amazing dogs in Malabo’s lineage, that we can reach new standards and broaden new ways for our breeding.

Great Gatsby was the number 1 Rhodesian in the United States and he was among the 10 best of the Group (2001-2002-2003).

He was the Best Dog in the National Special and Multi Winner of BIS. He also won the “Best in a Group” more than 100 times in hard North-American expos. He was in the Westminster, undoubtedly the most important international expo.

Gastby’s importance to the breed is indisputable and his presence in the Malabo APD lineage is fundamental. Gatsby is the father Of Afrikka Sprngvly Malabo (Golden Star), Fletcher Spring Valley’s of Malabo APD and Faar Tao Spring Valley’s of Malabo APD. A super winner generation of utmost importance for the formation of the “by Malabo APD” dogs.

Gastby is the grandfather on the mother’s side of Humphrey of Afrikka of Malabo APD and Hi-Fi of Afrikka of Malabo APD and great-grandfather of Logan, Lars, Lorenzo, La Boheme and La Vie en Rose.

To Gasby’s family we extend our deepest gratitude and feelings… Gratitude for allowing us to gather the insurmountable qualities of this stud of the highest quality and our feelings for the loss of this companion of utmost sweetness and character.
