Malabo at 2011 National

It is with great honour that the Malabo APD presents the results of our dogs that appeared in the National American, in Rapid City (South Dakota) on September 2011.

In total, 469 dogs were listed and judged by Mr. Kent Delaney. The organization of the events, the location and contacts made that day were simply phenomenal. Experiences like these really makes a difference for someone who is always trying to improve breeding.

We were there with 7 dogs from our kennel, with major highlight on Jodie Foster of Malabo APD, 5th best female of her breed by the ranking of AKC/2010 and participation of the Top 20, won by AM GCH/CAN CH BEAUJIBIJOU’S LITTLE SPECIAL, JC.

We traveled from Brazil with our handler Daniel Breim, bringing Julianne Moore Of Malabo APD, Nomble of Malabo APD and Nathari of Malabo APD.

Nomble and Nathari competed in the Open Dog Category, with more than 40 dogs listed. Nathari Of Malabo APD was on the competition until the last cut, and Nomble of Malabo APD won 4th place in the Category and many compliments to its movement.

Julianne Moore of Malabo APD competed in the Open Bitch Category, staying until the last cut.

Jodie Foster of Malabo APD, which was already in the United States with our official American handler Andy Linton, competed in the Great Champion Category and stayed until the last cut.

Robert Redford Of Malabo APD, Russel Crowe Of Malabo APD and Raquel Welch Of Malabo APD, puppies of Jodie Foster Of Malabo APD and´Bruno´ (MBIS MBISS Dual Champion Of Afrikka Spring Valley Dorian Gray RN SC ), born in the United States, competed in the Category from 6 to 9 months. Robert Redford of Malabo won the category and Raquel Welch won 4th place.

We are very happy with the excellent results obtained, and now we would like to show our special thanks to the handlers, Daniel Breim, Andy Linton and Amy Buckmiller that worked passionately with each dog – The Malabo APD was recognized by the quality of dogs it presented.

We thank all our partners and friends who always had confidence in our work!
See you all in the next National!

A word from Ana Paola Diniz
The 2011 RRCUS Nationals ended on September 16th, and just now I realized how it happened. I can’t stop thinking about all the wonderful moments that we have shared this past week in Rapid City, SD with a lot of special people and dogs. I am ecstatic every time I go to the Nationals, but this one was the best. I was extremely happy and with the people I love!

I would like to thank our President, Jane Missimer; RRCUS Vice-President, Celia and her husband Gleen Hoffman; Mary Lynn Elliott, Susan Ralston, John Wyszynski, Lynn Miller, Lee Ann Coto Sábio, Danielle Sand VMD, Judith Lichtman, Ross Jones, Asta McCormick, Chris Abraham, Sandra Gordon, Diane Jacobsen, Anne Jones, Patty Olney, Rosann Sexton, Clayton Heathcock, Mike Patterson, Sally Sweson, MaryAnne, Lin Hainlen, David Bueno, and many more! I hope I didn’t forget anyone! You’re all very dear and impossible to forget!

Also, the entire Special Committee and their volunteers for their hard work, not only towards us of Malabo APD, but to our dogs. A warm and caring reception! This was the best family vacation, only missing my son Luiz Guilherme; my photo album has pictures only of happiness and positive emotions. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I can’t wait for the 2012 Nationals in Orlando! With Mickey and Minnie! We will be there, and I am sure we will enjoy it! Love,

Ana Paola Diniz

The First National: We will never forget. Thoughts of Andy Linton and Amy Buckmiller

Andy and I enjoyed the national very much. We were very proud to exhibit Malabo dogs, especially the puppies we helped to raise. We are also very proud of Ana and all the hard work, time and dedication she gives to her Ridgebacks and the breed. We feel that Ana loves this breed (and all dogs) tremendously, she is eager to learn and has drive to improve on everything she does. She is generous and loving to everyone she encounters and many people value her friendship and involvement in the sport. I believe she will become even more of a pillar in the global Ridgeback scene.

I believe that Ridgebacks are a wonderful family dog. I love and cherish their quirks and antics, their thoughtful eyes and their loyalty. My vision for this breed is to continue to improve upon angulation. While working hard to keep the hallmark qualities of the breed.

I think this National was a wonderful success. The host hotel was clean friendly and ready for all the dogs. The restaurant was good and there were also tons of other choices within a short drive. The show venue was amazing! The ring and surrounding areas were set up and temperture controlled to perfection. There was tons of grass for walking. The club really did a great job. It was one of the best specialties I have ever attended, of any breed.

The judging was very good. Mr. Delaney had a great positive attitude and a light touch with our hounds. His sense of humor and obvious hard work seemed to be noticed and appreciated by all. He seemed to have a great understanding of the breed and enjoyed our dogs. His large entry in such a out of the way location made it obvious that I am not the only person who feels this way.
